Taylor Street students pilot soccer-based STEM board game

On Wednesday, October 20, Taylor Street Elementary School 5th and 6th graders had the opportunity to kick off the competition with STEM Goals, a soccer-based board game created by Sacramento Republic FC, SMUD and in partnership with Learn Fresh, a non-profit dedicated to providing innovative STEM learning experiences. As part of the kick off, the top two students also got to play the game with Sac Republic's first team, including midfielder Andrew Wheeler-Omiunu, who is pictured.

Taylor Street is one of 10 pilot schools participating in the STEM Goals tournament, where teachers will utilize the board game as a tool in their lesson plans and instruction, leading up to a final tournament. Each school will send its champions to the STEM Goals Cup Final, to be held next year when the Republic FC season kicks off at Heart Health Park.

Thank you, Sac Republic FC and SMUD, for partnering with the Robla School District and Taylor Street School.
